A short career on the bonnet
Mark Roland, Future Music Issue 55, April 1997
For a while, Jimi was pursuing a career in the art world. He specialised in taking pictures of the performers in the American Freak Show on Coney Island. "I put the pictures onto the bonnets of old cars. They were very big pieces of art. I showed them in galleries in New York and Berlin, but it was too much work. The pieces were very expensive to move around, and none of my friends wanted to keep them -- who wants a car bonnet in their front room -- so the ones I didn't ship from New York to Berlin I threw away. I lost so much money! Maybe I should do another exhibition, now that more people know who I am!"
